I'm sure you are worth it and if she is worth it, she will see that too.

    Well written throughout.

Good job on this one. I find that when you truly someone, waiting for them while they're away is more than worth it. Sometimes time apart brings you all the more closer to each other.

Two ways of looking at it...
      1. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
      OR
      2. Absence makes the heart go yonder.

I find the second one to be way more common.

is the second one how the speaker sees it?

The speaker of this poem is drowning in self pity. Feeling that the one he must say a temporary goodbye to will run away on him in his absence. Or if he/she CAN remain faithful... He/she will resent the speaker and find all of the sacrifices to be not worth it.

Ok. Well, the way I see it would be that there is a way to continue to live and still wait for someone. Relationships put aside (obviously, if you're waiting for someone) you can still work on all the daily life things. Education, getting an apartment (which I actually just did btw) and money saving.
I understand where the speaker is coming from and I respect that position in the poem.

I can totally identify with this poem, your observations are acute and the voice of this poem os the voice of many.

    Really great job'
