Mama, please forgive me.

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 8, 2017

The day is finished, and
she didn’t say goodnight the way
I remember –
kisses of milk and honey
as she smooths the rough
terrain on my head.

I’ve seen hell today,
yet the clock still chimes
its victories…
and I miss being prayed for
as she loses herself
to hopeless fantasies.
