note to self

by hiraeth   Apr 20, 2017

and though,

there's comfort in your arms,
warmth in the words you'd sprout on your lips,
a gentle kindness in your palms that quells storms -

I'm always reluctant to seek refuge in you
when I'm already extinguishing your
wildfires before they kindle.

- poem #1 for napowrimo.

I think my partner and I take turns feeling this way about each other.

I enjoy the format of this poem, it's rather perfect for a note to self. You made me realize that I see a "note" as containing menial information; your self-note took me off guard with the depth it held in those few words.
