With the Queen of Hearts Dead

by mossgirl19   Jun 10, 2017

Dashing soldier, an entrance he had made
But his leaving was marked with the blade.
Down came the head of the Queen of Hearts
With it the chance the Teacher was at.
For a minute ago, he would have made a show
But fierce was the Queen’s eyes
So he drank some more, a little more
Not once anticipating that slice.
She was a witch and long were her claws
Thought he was His only chance!
But gone was the soldier, so now to the Cowgirl
Gowdy, its real time to dance!
To the Cowgirl he made his way quick, and bowed
“I hope I am not fashionably late.
But shall it please you, if I speak that thus,
Our hearts are woven by fate.”
Brandishing the tears from her eyes,
“But the soldier owns my heart.”
Unabashed, He looked at her,
“Give me a chance to show my art.”
Hand in hand they walked to the dance floor
Some Aretha Franklin music playing
Thud there was a sound, the teacher awoke
Hands on the head, “My, I’ve been dreaming!”
