Black, Like my Soul

by Tony   Jun 12, 2017

*You know who this is for*

Like the yawning chasm of the Abyss
Tragic as a train run off its track
Bold to live here without light
My soul is a lovely shade of black

Black because it cannot be covered!
Silenced or overlooked,
Black is not easily erased
Like words printed in a book

Black cannot be ignored
For it tends to draw your eye
Because my soul is bitter black
I have a resilient will to try

Black is that stubborn stain
That clings tightly and never leaves
To it there is a certain depth
That is too deep to perceive

Black is not transparent
You must submerge yourself below
Black's an enigmatic mystery
Most were never meant to know

Black probably the strongest of colours, and for me this is one of the strongest poems this week. Full of emotion and imagery and sadness but I also see hope and promise within in this piece. Congrats well done!

Thanks all! Someone once told me one of her favorite colors was black, like her soul ; )
Instantly I saw it as a strength. Black is the toughest, boldest, and most mysterious color there is.
