Here I am writing to you
for I don't want you to make
the same mistakes as I did.
I don't want you to let people
call you hurtful things nor
push you around and make
you believe their awful words.
I don't want you to be with a man
who to pushes you around,
controls you and takes away
all your worth and beauty.
What I want for you is to
fight for what you believe in
even if you stand alone,
be strong and if you're told
otherwise then believe in yourself.
I want you to be like me in strength
but not in letting people walk all over you.
Promise me this...

Lovely and heartfelt em. I have a daughter who's a strong willed little bugger. At some point in the future some guy (or girl) is gonna think "I've bitten off more than can chew here"
Picture this conversation between me and a ten year old.
What's the meaning of life?
In my head I'm thinking bollox.
What I said was. "The meaning of life is life. It is to continue and create and also to procreate"
She replied "so it's a circle"
My response was "no its linear, always moving forward, always advancing and improving and learning as you go"
She gave a hhmmm kinda noise and walked away content with the answer, for now !
In truth I didn't have a bloody clue what I was talking about, but at age ten for her to ask that question ! I'm so buggered when she gets older.
Oh but not before she brings her first boyfriend or girlfriend home. I'm so gonna make em squirm. Why? Because it's in the unwritten laws of dad's.
This is so my niece she questions everything and it takes a while to think of an answer hah
Amen Em! As a mom of 2 daughters and now 3 granddaughters I want them to be strong and have a positive self worth. You don't want them to go through the pain you did. Well done with this!
Very heart-felt Em
Thank Kereen and Michael x
This is beautiful in every way imaginable. Heart felt, honest and sincere. Awesome piece.
Awww...I would say these very things to my little girl! One thing I always pray is that she never make the same mistakes that I did! What a heart-gripping poem!
