Some good advice, Em. It's funny, you'd think after generations of children saying 'I'm not going to make the same mistakes my parents did' we'd all be a smarter lot. I suppose we can prevent those mistakes sometimes, but not our very own mistakes...you know, the ones our children won't make.

    All the very best,

    Ben

Awww...I would say these very things to my little girl! One thing I always pray is that she never make the same mistakes that I did! What a heart-gripping poem!

Amen Em! As a mom of 2 daughters and now 3 granddaughters I want them to be strong and have a positive self worth. You don't want them to go through the pain you did. Well done with this!

Lovely and heartfelt em. I have a daughter who's a strong willed little bugger. At some point in the future some guy (or girl) is gonna think "I've bitten off more than can chew here"

Picture this conversation between me and a ten year old.

    Dad,

    Yeah

    What's the meaning of life?

In my head I'm thinking bollox.

What I said was. "The meaning of life is life. It is to continue and create and also to procreate"

She replied "so it's a circle"

My response was "no its linear, always moving forward, always advancing and improving and learning as you go"

She gave a hhmmm kinda noise and walked away content with the answer, for now !

In truth I didn't have a bloody clue what I was talking about, but at age ten for her to ask that question ! I'm so buggered when she gets older.

Oh but not before she brings her first boyfriend or girlfriend home. I'm so gonna make em squirm. Why? Because it's in the unwritten laws of dad's.
