Birth of a Fake Smile

by Maple Tree   Jun 27, 2017

The eyes see paint chips cracking
alongside the edge of a broken heart,
weeping willows weep;
and the world grows colder.

Numbing tears etch the outline
of a faceless wonderer,
nibbling on nails stained
with countless nightmares.

Depression knocks upon doors
of strangers who do not understand,
how could they?

Have they ever wondered into darkness
where the ocean is full of poisonous memories?

We think, and overthink, until our minds
become a dark abyss; that is where
our fake smiles are created....

I know we all have our own woes etc etc but this gripped my heart and made me really emotional as it resonates so much with me like your writes usually do.

    Much love
    Em x
