Do not ....

by Mark Rawlins   Jun 30, 2017

Do not demand the truth or expose lies.
Do not protest, do not disturb the quiet.
Do not speak out, do not politicise.

This is no time to shout, or criticise.
Your words may cause offence or start a riot.
Do not demand the truth or expose lies.

We sympathise with you, we empathise.
We feel your hurt and pain, but when you cry it
do not speak out, do not politicise.

Though high-rise heroes dare ask for a rise,
austerity's a fact and you must buy it.
Do not demand the truth or expose lies.

As charred remains remain from burning skies,
just let our double-barrelled judge inquire it.
Do not speak out, do not politicise.

So just a word, a word unto the wise:
Do not protest lest you disturb the quiet.
Do not demand the truth or expose lies.
Do not speak out, do not politicise.
