This is absolutely profound and breathtakingly beautiful, Ben. Reading it is an absolute pleasure. I may read this again and appreciate it all over.
Summer is a lovely time but it's quite a short time in a year and seasons have to change. This piece has this 'feel' that we generally would like to remain somewhere beautiful and calm, or remain in that place or time when we are comfortable and happy...but life really has the joke on us. We are challenged to face yet another shift where things are unknown and maybe harsh...it's when we have to accept that life is never easy. And yes, to win the gold we must pass thru all seasons!
I love this quite sentimental sonnet. I would like to join the others and acknowledge you as the sonnet king, though a poetic pixie would be more magical I guess. :-) Fun aside, sonnets are really hard to do!
Another excellent piece and straight into favorites.
Good man I am glad you pointed me in the direction of this sonnet because it is sublime and shockingly poetic (as always) and if I must say you are one poet I look upto on this sight and one day I aspire to be able to write as good as this though maybe not sonnets (I shall leave those for you) personally for me this will hit home for many of us because we always wants things that we either do not need, cannot afford or just cannot have which makes life difficult but we live and learn.. I am still living and learning haha
Wow Ben, I got a chill while reading it, as a child I loved the Winter, I remember the Great Blizzard in 1948 as a child of eight years old in Staten Island, New York. I looked at night out the window to see giant snow flakes steadily falling with lots of stuck cars and Buses, the wind driven snow up to their windows. Now grown up, I'm glad to live in Florida, two months of cold but no snow! Your poem is a great Sonnet that I agree with the others is a little over my head but something at ease for you, the Sonnet Master! Added to Favorites!
