Warning Sign

by nani   Jul 13, 2017

The girl wanted a boy
He just wanted a toy
To play with

She had told him, "Please don't play my heart like old guitar strings."
"It's rusty and fragile, your touch will burn and sting."

He set her heart on fire
After she told him she was sick and tired

Of playing these games
But he would just be another boy in the way

Telling her lies like, "I can't wait to meet your parents." Or "I hope your family likes me."
"You're the only one I see a future with, it's more than a dream."

She gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn't pull away
Sooner than you know it, he just left her astray.

No reason, no warning sign
She thought things were going so well this time

She had guarded her heart for so long
So she finally let go, and she was led on

It's very sad that people play with their partners emotions. They must live hollow and unsatisfied lives. An excellent piece that captures this treatment very well. I saw something recently on TV where a dad was trying to warn his daughter that boys will tell her anything to get her into bed the biggest lie being I love you. I think it's standard that whatever the sex of the person if they have an underlying intent then they will say whatever gets them results. The only way to avoid this is to take plenty of time to get to know someone in different situations before you trust them fully.

This is all too relateable.... Men and women alike need warning labels because we're all as bad as each other I reckon
