The One to Run

by H. Elizabeth   Jul 22, 2017

You told me that you run and run
Until you find yourself alone
But you didn't run quick enough
Because now,
Your eyes are my favorite shade of amber
And you telling me you love me
Is my favorite song.
You said you were sorry for running
But maybe I should have been
The one to run.
I should have ran away as fast as I could
But instead, I ran towards you.
I should have ran away before
I fell in love with you and
Your love for cigarettes.
But I was never the one to run.
It was always you.
You were afraid of opening up
But you weren't afraid of running.
And maybe you ran because
You knew if you didn't,

Then I would.

This is absolutely beautifully done. Somtimes we run because we know if we don't then we'll get hurt others times we don't run and get hurt anyway unfortunately but that's life for you you never know what hand you'll be dealt until you take risks that way you learn lessons and make mistakes all by yourself which means no regrets in my opinion

    All the best

Agree with Milly. The problem is, whether running away or running into, we usually don't know what's right until it's too late! Great piece that got me thinking.
    All the best,

The conundrum of running towards or away is a great concept and something that concerns most people at some point in their lives. Well captured
