Ten

by C Cattaway   Jul 25, 2017

A tiny little chimpanzee
Was sitting on a wall.
She looked upon the world,
& thought
She'd never reach it all,
But she also knew that filled with
love, she could go far,
So rather than dream life away,
She chose to chase the stars.
I love my little chimp, but ten years
Have flown past to soon.
It won't be long before she finds
A way to reach the moon
And full of hope & promise, she
Will find her own sweet way.
But until then, my little girl
Will learn, & laugh, & play.
For there are days & years ahead
For her to grow, but not
Today. Oh no, today is mine,
To love her such a lot,
And celebrate another year
And share her life, & friends
Who will help her make memories,
Because today she's ten.
