You must not quit

by Saundarya   Sep 5, 2017

When things go wrong and nothing seems right,

When the trail you're tramping seems all difficult,

When the coffers are squat and the sum unpaid are high,

Though you want to smile, all you can do is to sigh.

If you feel the whole world persuading you down a bit

Take your time off if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with nothing but twist and its turns,

And is a big lesson that each of us learns,

Don't give up moving on, even if the pace is slow,

You never can tell, to succeed is enough a blow.

Triumph is catastrophe crooked inside out

The hoary hue on the clouds of doubt

And you never know how close you are,

So let your journey not stop after coming so far;

Stick on to the combat the minute you're toughest hit,

And of all time it is your worst time that you must not quit!

    Hello Saundarya... First of all a warm welcome to the site! This piece is very inspiring... I love its structure and rhyming too. I think at the last line there should be an 'at' say, 'it is at your worst time that you must not quit, although it read okay as it is. :-)

    Loved this beautifully rhymed piece.
