Two Faces

by Domenico Sottile   Sep 11, 2017

We were once fused into one
Now we meet half way
with our white flags
and exchange reflections
as if prisoners
who neither of us
dare to cross

Perhaps at night
they wipe their tears

Yes they will survive
they will conquer

However
love for them
will always have two faces

At first read I found it a little confusing probably because my imagination went off on a tangeant lol. On reading it again I realised it wasnt siamese twins that had been operated on but a couple whos love had changed. The last stanza made it all clear. How sad that two people who loved so much end up almost prisoners who wear two faces. An interesting piece. Milly x

Thank you. The "two faces" is the perspective from their children. E. O.

Awww, I totally felt this one. Oh, the ending stanza speaks volumes. It's a wonder why sometimes even the most perfect couple end up in separate ways.

Just my thoughts, I think I will like it more if you started with third person from the beginning stanza.
