Losing A Friend

by Robert Long   Sep 22, 2017

Depression is no friend
To any girl or man
And without help
From it you can't defend

most can only manage
to try to stay strong
but then they things
that are completely wrong

i once had to witneess
the blood from their arm
they had carved into their skin
like they were plowing a farm

my heart was beating fast
and i was worried for their life
their eyes were looking lost
and they could barely hold the knife

i rush on over
and rip off my sleeve
tied it on their arm
so their blood wouldn't leave

their head drooped over
and looked at me
with those help me eyes
and i yelled help me please

i called out their name
and got them to come to
but then a moment later
their life was through

and i sat there
holding them tight
and thinking to myself
i hope they found gods light

Depression is a very real monster that terrorises so many people and causes bodily and mental harm. The proof of how many people suffer is bottled in pnq's pages and it is sad to read about indeed. It never goes away, but we can become more practiced at beating it back.

    Take care, Robert
