Broken record

by Free verse   Sep 26, 2017

If you only looked up
instead of seeing down,
you found a man's love
aching for a broken record.

Your love
was a matchstick those days,
and I had a paper heart;
An exemplary bondage - set fire inside me.

I knew the very moment
I kissed your lips for the first time
you would not like me
as I tasted lies in your lipstick.

I never knew you were a
two-headed person
and,
manipulative affection was your
monogram.

Now thinking of you reminds me of black-and-white dreams
because, my love,
I see your shadow before your face,
and it is pretty ugly.
