The Haunted Tree

by words2myself   Oct 10, 2017

There it sat alone
this haunted tree on the hill

Its branches stretched out like arms and warped
now bare where its leaves once were
leaves that would have fell in the Autumn wind

Now petrified this tree stood tall, strong and still
its roots strongly embedded in the ground

The next time I saw this haunted tree
It had fallen to the might of mother nature

A storm had come and knocked down
this once tall and strong tree
uplifting its roots

It now lay bare
on the ground

Its rotting bark giving nutrients
back to the earth
the cycle of life
beginning once more
