Dark Sounds

by Justen Smith   Oct 18, 2017

The loudest sound,
You'll never hear,
Is a silence,
Of the world around,
For that is when,
Your mind takes journeys,
Places you don't want to go,
Things you don't want to see,
All played in your head,
Like an old cd Stuck on repeat,
You will visit the past,
Every trip and every fall,
All your fears and worries,
You'll hear them,
In the darkness,
Cackling like a witch,
Waiting for you to lower guards,
Then pouncing you,
Like a tiger to prey.

But fear them not,
For they are but thoughts,
Find strength inside survival,
You made it through,
Lived to tell the tale,
So don't let the ghosts,
Ruin today or tomorrow,
Banish them from mind,
Soon you will find,
The world around,
Is not so quiet after all.

Justen, silence can either destroy you or re-energize you. You really touched on this nicely. When you get older there's going to be times when you will welcome the quiet. Well done-

I have spent from 19 to 27 in the silence described above....it's been painful...I long for noise. :-)

Ah. So true! Why don't we think of that when those awful fears and memories are haunting us! Yes, just having those thoughts means we've survived! Brilliant Justen x

Every painful memory is a trophy of survival. They make us who we are and all we can hope is they make us a better person. :-)

I really wish i could nominate this. Makes me think about not thinking so much about everything..if that made any sense. Lol. Anyways, this is excellence at its finest! 5/5
