I Would Take It Away

by C Cattaway   Oct 18, 2017

If I could explain anxiety,
I'd be a millionaire,
For there's so much confusion
In this world, that all our care
Is mixed up in our heads,
And jumbled up in our display.
The thoughts we have, the processing
In some abandoned way,
That failing or surviving becomes
Difficult to do.
But even if we're up on top,
It gets beyond us, too.
Each step we take, is using
Such effort, even though
We take these steps confidently
Each day, and even so,
It takes a strength within us
That we don't thing we have.
We push our inner limits,
And we never understand
How we got through another day.
Those people. All that noise.
How can we function clearly,
When we get so annoyed?
The fuzzy brain can't think straight.
The friends we know we trust,
But we don't want to burden,
Although we know we must.
The streets seem busy; crazy.
The traffic smells. It's loud!
The birds sing of our sorrow,
And the sun becomes a cloud.
If I could explain anxiety,
I'd help you, in a flash.
But all I know, is it's ok
To slow down. Don't be brash.
I'll hold your hand whenever
You need me. Never fear
The time or day. Just call my name.
My darling, I am here.

This is very difficult to read without losing interest or losing your place. Consider breaking this piece up into stanzas. It might pack more of a punch as well. Otherwise your word choice is okay and the direction is nice. The anxiety was definitely clearly communicated though so nice job there!

Thankyou. Advice noted. I left it chaotic on purpose, because that mirrors the anxiety, & I was bumbling through with the madness :-) x
