Trench Love

by C Cattaway   Oct 18, 2017

You gave me a flower.
I felt how it died.
You showed me a picture.
I saw how it lied.
I showed you my love.
You ignored how I cried.
I gave you my future.
You ran off to hide.
You gave me your hand,
And I felt all your strength.
You gave me your time,
And I saw nothing else.
I gave you my confidence
But now my health
Is suffering because
My hope's in a trench.

Loved the rhyming and the tale of woe. I don't normally like repetitive line starts but keeping the lines short and punch really works. Milly x

This reminds me of the Gravenhurst song "Black Holes in the Sand". If you have not heard of it I highly recommend! (It's even fun to listen to while reading this piece, they actually go kinda well together.) It's a cool little write and I can't wait to see what else you can come up with and how the skills you show here will evolve and strengthen.
