A Very Colorful Moth

by BlueJay   Oct 18, 2017

Perhaps if I had wished you godspeed
or, at the very least, wellness
on my final day in that class
sitting next to you, you would have
found me again when we were older

in a new city or time.

And even though I'll always wonder if
I could have saved you I still understand
the desire moths have to willingly burn
themselves alive for the brightest flames

once they feel they have seen
every shade of light
this world has to offer.

I really hope this gets nominated, because you wrote it well. The emotions felt from a death (i presume) always have the most impact. Added to my favorites
