The Poems Behind The Poets: Xll

by Scott Cole   Oct 27, 2017

<( To You Dear Poets )>

All of this poetic beauty once shared
In my eyes are a breath of fresh air,
Those invisible idols of unspoken whiteness
And these random acts of poetry they've prepared.

For their works aren't just another quick write
Resurfacing like a moonlight drawn by clouds,
Nor sour poems sugarcoated in pixie dust
They're a lullaby of words that make us proud.

They're not like eminent apples that float away
Or expensive whiskey in the well of waste,
They're more like thunder from a poet's eye
Those broken beats on empty streets that resonate.

They etch the past and they're worth the wait
For without their oxygen pens are short of breath,
Because they always plant the seed of hope
By catching my mind's eye in the weekly contest.

For these great poems are handcuffed in infinity
As a lifetime prisoner of this poetry site,
The death of a poet in the land I love
They're inked moments are crystallized in graphite.

Even if tomorrow expires they're still locked in
Like those endless sunsets that never wave goodbye,
So let my pen speak not another word
Because my most profound ideas couldn't top these guys.

So dust to dust and a sad farewell
To all those sleepless nights without a cure,
For all your long hours and hard work
Will ensure these masterpieces will forever endure.
