Thank you all so much for your comments.

    About wings.

In 1999 I was deployed to Kenya for my 2nd six month tour there. On camp we had a number of locally employed civilians. Many would have little side lines in order to make a bit extra cash. One of them was fantastic at carving.

A lot of guys would get carvings of their cap badges made and present them to the mess once they rotated home. I didn't!

I drew a picture and had that carved instead. It was of two interlocking love hearts and each heart had a wing. It also had my name and my wife's, along with our wedding date.

    Underneath it has the words

"One's no good without the other"

This is the last line from the poem. I think I've explained before that often I will work backwards on a poem.

My wife and I separated 3 years ago and have lived apart since. However we never truly separated in the full sense of the word, I know it sounds weird but we would always gravitate towards each other. When you have loved someone for so long you can't just turn that off. The poem (if you could call it a poem) 3 years out is all about her. She's a pretty special little lady.

Something happened recently that has driven a wedge between us and I don't know if I can pull things back. However what it has done is make me realise just how much I love her.

After 3 years apart and what has happened recently I'm not sure if I can win her back but I'm gonna bloody try.

Some of you may think this weak and pathetic but I don't care what anyone thinks anymore, only what she thinks.

Wish me luck I'm gonna need it

    Craig

From what I read I can see you are a good guy Craig. Everyone
makes mistakes and people do forgive and when you love someone so
deeply for many years I don't think separation can draw you guys apart.
Instead leave it to time to heal...all the very best!

    A heartfelt write...take care

This is such a heartfelt write. We are all human, all imperfect & flawed. None of us are immune from failure. It is what you do with it, how you rise up afterwards & how you move forwards. Wishing you all the very best of luck. Remember love conquers all x
