This London Place

by CJ Maleney   Nov 1, 2017

I'm in this London place
You can vanish without a trace
The never ending rat race
Not a smile upon a face

They walk these city streets
Not knowing who it is they wish to be
Not knowing who they are
As they stare that thousand yards

What a terrible place to be!

The early morning trudge
Where your mind is lost within the sludge
You try to drive on down the road
But the traffic just won't flow

Squeezed on to that tube
Where no one will look at you
Crammed like cattle in a truck
Where no one will give a f¥€k

What an awful life to lead!

Scared to walk the streets at night
You don't know who's carrying a knife
The beauty of Hyde Park
Where no one ventures after dark

Gangs hang around the streets
Not even phased about the police
They're not meeting at a hub
Just scanning for who it is they'll mug.

This place is not for me

I have to be honest, Craig, I have never been a city dweller and the last time I went to London I broke out in nervous sweats - I haven't been for years. As you say, not the place for me...

    Take care,

I go there a lot, even though I live on the border with Scotland.

Tomorrow that ends, I'll not see it again until September next year.

London is a very scary place especially when you're alone and have no clue where you're going lol but I'm sure there's something hiding in the midst here...

      Always!

But yeah its not a happy city and especially if you have to move a 50 foot long truck through it.

Oh my Craig I have been dreaming of London all my life and with this write I am thinking of our own Manila here in the Philippines. Everyday traffic, pollution and all. It may be the most sought after place for high paying jobs but I would rather settle here with where I am now...where I can still see trees. Hehe.

If you ever come you will love it. As a tourist it's got a lot to offer.

Personally I'll stick to the lake district, my home, my love and the place that I feel most comfortable in.

The is a great rhyme Craig! Really the narrative is consistent throughout and there is something about it, personal and real.

Gives thanks to the airborne toxic event for the inspiration behind this.

Come Friday evening I change my current job and I will never have to venture into that city again.
