Tightrope Of Twine

by Ben Pickard   Nov 14, 2017

should the moon
make lamebrains of us both,

or the rouge leaves
relieve us of our ailing sense -

if the heady scent of musk and lust
makes mirages in this room,
and the Devil's discordant bells
outweigh the angels' harmonious harps -

then let the cold light of morning
lacerate this tightrope of twine
that we have woven and are destined

to fall from anyway

Ben, with such a rich vocabulary I had to google some words. :-) I read such a depth of sadness in the lines. Very well crafted short piece. Glad it's nominated.

Nicely done Ben! Sometimes it seems like we are walking that tightrope.
