“...but you do.”

by Beautiful Tragedy   Nov 20, 2017

“Did you ever hate him?”
You asked;
Those beautiful green eyes searching mine.
“.. no.” I replied, pausing for a second to think.
“If anything, hating him would have
been so much easier than loving
him had been.
Now, I just want to tell him I forgive him and keep moving on.”
You look back at the bar in contemplation;
Then shift your gaze back to mine.
“Why though? He doesn’t deserve that kind of closure .”
I give a small smile.
“Maybe not, but I..”
I pause mid sentence as you meet my eyes in understanding,
and finish the thought for me.
“.. but you do.”

    Hate takes time and emotional effort, and some people are just not worth your emotions! Great that you have someone so special now :-) x

    Ahh, BT. As simple as this encounter maybe, your message here is very beautiful because you need to close things for yourself and not for 'him'. We need to settle our own issues, accept things and move on. It's hard to forgive, but those who choose to always end up happy. Beautiful write.

      Mossgirl;
      I love that you see the deeper meaning here, but you’re missing a part. the conversation is between the love of my life and I; and if you caught the ending Not only does it talk about closure for myself, but how he finished my sentence says something about our relationship in a million different ways. We were talking about an ex, one in whom emotionally abused me. I’m sure you can put the rest of it together from there.
      All the best;
      BT

      Awww, for him to complete the sentence does tell me the level of your relationship, and I am happy and inspired reading your story.
