Ben, it is evident that sonnets run in the Pickard family and Daddy is doing a great job in teaching kids to write.

I really love the theme, nature is a great healer! Great piece, Ben.

Crikey Ben, this is awesome! I hope they're getting to read all the comments. Having tried a sonnet and failed miserably, I'm really in awe of just how tricky they are. This is beautiful ... you're a fantastic teacher and Joe and Keira have some serious talent! :-) x

Thank you, Kitty. They actually picked it up really quickly. The theme and content is all theirs, I just helped out with the iambic pentameter a little.

Oh my this is simply fantastic, be wary mindful of your crown sonnet king, it would appear others have aspirations of sitting on your throne.

Massively well done to your little ones and no way am I ever gonna call you daddy lol.

    Respect to you and yours

    Craig :-)

BP, it's a very good thing to teach your children at such young age. It will not only improve their writing skills, but give them insight about this world too. How things happen, I think you already mentioned few in this poem.
Without a doubt it has been written by your children, as I can see beautiful language throughout the poem.
Children are beautiful and so is everything they do. My best wishes and love for your children Joe and Keira. I am sure, in future, they will make their daddy proud in one way or another.

Joe, Keira and daddy Pickard this is simply astounding work. Ben this brought a smile to my face that you have been working so hard with your children on sonnets etc they really have taken a shine to it haven't they?

I'm still smiling (sang like Elton Johns I'm still standing lol)

    Thank you and best wishes
    Em x

Thanks, Em. Not just sonnets - I have them writing free verse, haiku, acrostics; I'm a hard taskmaster, lol. 'I'm still standing' - great song that...

Love it Ben, I'm in tune with the kids who love Nature, Nature was my only friend when as a troubled young boy who found solace among the birds, and the quietness of the quarry. I sang my own song to God, praising him for my life even though I lived in a very poor family, not anymore!
Great work by the kids and a Little help from the Master, I hope no one beats me to Nominating it!
Give may personal congrats to the kids,
Good man, you deserve all the Best that life can give, Ken

I hadn’t heard their notes for far to long

^^ shouldn’t it be “too” instead of “to”?

I am really not sure but nice sonnet. I’m glad you are teaching your kids to write them.
