Heart

by Alice   Nov 27, 2017

I shrugged back on my scanty shirt
and told you to whisk away;
so cooly you breezed to the bus
and I stood with you,
nipples hard as pins
and rocky feet like a sooted urchin.
You were driven away,
by me,
and by your straining on my bra
that left me soft and free.
I could not let you cup my pillows
for I had not a scrap of appetite
for your touch.
We were confidants,
yet a refusal of the flesh
razored both our hearts.
