A Mice Christmas

by Milly Hayward   Dec 11, 2017

Hey Little mice, wrap yourselves up warm
come to my house and be safe from the storm
Fire crackles, a warm pleasant sight
Shouldn’t be out, on a cold winters night

They looked around, with eyes opened wide
feast like no other, their host did provide
different foods with wonderful smell
they were soon all under, the Christmas spell

Finished eating, they sang for a while
with angelic voices, fit to beguile
songs of Santa and of his Reindeer
then told stories, filled with love and good cheer

The fire died down, its time for bed
they lay down to sleep, with spirits well fed
Early morning, they woke with great joy
in each of their stockings, a fine new toy

Santa had visited, whilst they slept
delivering gifts, he'd silently crept
Then door opened wide, what a surprise
There was their host, a man merry and wise

Can you guess who he was? go on try
Man in a red suit, who flies through the sky
“Ho ho ho” said he, shrugged off the snow
lets settle down, with a glass of Bordeaux

This is a heart warming Christmas poem/story! As I
read it I could only imagine Tom and Jerry and his little
troops. The rhyme scheme through out the write was simple
and perfect. Nothing seemed forced and it cheers the heart.
Perhaps it will be a hit among the children! Enjoyed the read.
