3 AM

by Taylor M   Dec 13, 2017

I’m writhing in my sleep
A constant state of REM
All I’m seeing are images of you
Over and over again
I can hear your voice but you’re not really there
Can feel your hands all over me
The heat turns up as we get closer
Calling out your name
And I’m awake
3 AM drenched in sweat again
Look around this dark room
No sign of you
For some reason I thought it’d be different this time
Figured one of these days I’ll wake up
Figured one of these days you’ll be lying next to me
3 AM I’ve felt your arms pull me closer to you
The next night I’m alone again
It’s a record on repeat
I cry out to you and I know you don’t hear me
I long to feel your body heat
It only lasts so long
Until you go away again
Or I wake up again
At 3 AM
