Vampire Narrative Part 1

by Robert Long   Dec 18, 2017

i tip-toed through the night
so very scared
so afraid i was
that my senses were impaired

slowly i breath in
the cold and misty air
feeling like I'm being followed
causing my throat to flare

heart beats faster
and my pace speeds
i turn the corner
clenching my beads

suddenly i feel
a cold hand on my arm
come with me he says
if you want to stay from harm

i looked around the corner
and saw a man running
so i went with him
and we took off gunning

we finally got away
and i felt something new
a pain in my neck
like it was being bit through

i wanted to move
But i was so paralyzed
i felt limp
and saw the fire in his eyes

slowly, slowly
my body turned cold
felt so lifeless
that my body just folds

later on i woke up
with the man next to me
he looked into my eyes
with so much glee

I'm glad you're awake
what do you see
what do you feel
what do you need

i see darkness
but at the same time light
and i feel hungry
for something not in sight

i look at his neck
and i see his veins
blood coursing through them
thinking this is insane

he drew blood
and offered it up
i grabbed his arm
and drank like a pup

i pulled back
although i wanted more
then i asked what happened
and he hinted to the door

so i followed him
even though i don't know why
for I'm a person
that's always been shy

As Ben already mentioned. Ensuring narrative poetry is distinctive and not taken as prose can be difficult but your inclusion of rhyme and the detail creating great visuals really works. Look forward to reading the next instalment. Best wishes Milly x

Excellent, Robert. the trick with narrative poetry is to make sure the distinction remains between prose and verse. With your smooth rhyming and excellent visuals, you do this really well and manage to keep the reader enthralled as well. I will get to the next part later.

    All the best,

    Ben
