An interesting piece. I'm intrigued about the rotting. At first I thought your friend was a doll or a plant but then the demons were introduced followed by the reveal that her friend had gone and that now she is rotting so my thoughts went to a contagious disease. So I kept 're reading it and came to the conclusion that it is a metaphor for depression. I would love to hear more about the inspiration for this poem. Poems are such a wonderful art form because they can have so many different interpretations. Well done best wishes Milly x
Hi Evi, this is a great write and one that I have been re-reading over. My interpretation is that the friend you are talking about is yourself or your inner voice and you are feeling lost because your subconscious isn't communicating with you anymore, ie- you have lost your friend. Like Milly says, depression has taken over. I don't know if that's the same as your interpretation but I really liked this write, made me think about it for a long time....Well done
That is a really interesting interpretation but what I was aiming for was a friend who didn't talk about her problems and ended up committing suicide. I'm glad you enjoyed it however. I wish I had thought of that in the first place :') Thank you!
I've read the comments Evi so I understand what this excellent piece is about, but the title suggests that you're very angry with your friend for not sharing her problems too, then leaving you by suicide?
Excellent work! :-) x
