Indifference

by Cheska   Jan 5, 2018

what bothered you worried me,
what angered you enraged me,
what weakens you pained me,
but your love killed me.

for all the stares you gave ,
few smiles and quick regards ,
I thought you would love me,
more than your adoration for her soul.

for I dare not even blink,
and looked at you wide-eyed,
hoping for one look,
one glimpse I'll catch your eyes.

two brown marbles,
praying they would smile,
whispering words I longed to hear,
for the eyes are truer than words.

it will travel deep down me,
and blend with the fire,
I've been setting afire,
for too long.

at the end of my words,
before I breathe the last air,
at least I could say,
I'm happy you've found me.

yet you are not here,
as I lay nearly frozen,
yearning for the love
you'll never burn.
