Why are we here?

Everyone individually thinks
they are special and unique.
Superior in some kind of way.
But in reality
We are all gravitated here for a purpose.

We are staring at our screens right now.
Hoping to gain something.

Hoping to see something we haven't seen before.
To feel something we haven't felt in a while.

Perhaps I have even forgotten what a certain sensation felt like.

My eyes are a little sore.
And my head feels fuzzy.

Not as if this is a dream.
More like,
Television static.
A numb kind of "fuzzy".

What makes me happy these days?
Do I even gain joy from anything?
Do I feel alive?
Or is the internet just what I'm accustomed to?

My friends are here.
My relationships develop here.
My only significant bonds bloom here.

It annoys me
To know that it all ends up the same.
No matter how many times I try.

I'm growing sick and tired of it.

Will it ever end?
Who will wake me up?

You don't have to be scared here.
It’s a dream world we are logged into.

You know what you're doing.

But don't you want to be scared?

I grew up in a time before the Internet. Yes, I'm that old! :p

Even so, I find much of my time is spent looking at a screen. My eyes blur, causing my brain to fog long after I should have, just switched off.

I can only imagine how difficult it is for your generation. It must be like living your whole life on-line? As you say, like a dream. Well, this dream is real and we can't wake up.

Is this true? I think not. It will take effort, but there is a world of reality out there. It may just start by visiting local landmarks, but it is outside where the physical relationships start. You need to experience the world to feel part of it. It's all about balance. You can live on-line and outside in equal measures.

    Good luck. :)
