Before...

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Jan 7, 2018

I watched a heart die in front of my eyes, and it only took that one time...
To understand what I already knew, that I would never get over you.
Cold, he was, but she was in love,
And just with a glance, I felt her pain.
Because you and I may be going through tough times, but, at least, I still love you the same.

So, right here, in front of your door,
I'm asking for your love and nothing more.
And I don't care who she is, or why you're trying to score,
I just need you to need me like you did before.

There were her cries in front of my eyes, and it only took that one time...
To understand what I already knew, that I have to breathe the same air as you.
And just like us, there were thoughts of giving up;
Without a word, I felt the deepest of sympathy,
Because you and I have our many fights, but at least...
You're still the better half of me

So, right here, in front of your door,
I'm asking for your love and nothing more.
And I don't care who she is, or that she's here for you to score,
I just want you to want me like you did before...

Before, when we couldn't be torn apart...
When we grew old but still lived young...
When your love was strongest when I was far...
Before when this was something we'd never become!
