never assume

by Robert Long   Jan 11, 2018

always in the dark
smothered in their tears
you say they're fine
but you can never hear
the mumbling in the dark
and every cut and mark

nearer they draw
onto their demise
with twitches in the body
and half rolled back eyes
so in a knife sticks today
never to be removed
going to be fine you say

but you should never assume
