Saddest Surprise

by Lyn Aribaca   Jan 13, 2018

It was a great day!
It was our 4th anniversary
Guess what, I’m feeling brand new
I’m excited to see you.

I wear the dress you gave me
I’m pretty sure, it was quite pretty
I put less make up on
My face because, it’s turning you on

As I expected, I received a text message from you
You wanted to talk to me, I guess in the nicest view
I was so excited to see you
Before ten on our favorite avenue

I’ve been waiting for you, ten minutes after ten
I know it’s not that long but being late it’s not on your word
I asked you, what’s wrong? What happen?
But a deep silence between our world

You hold my hand, looking straight on my eyes
I know I felt something wrong
You said you have loved me, no lies
Four years was enough, and too long?

I know what you mean but I can’t understand
No, I mean. I don’t want to understand.
You tell me, you love but you have to say goodbye
How could you say that so easily with your head up so high?

“No, you can’t.” I had my tears on my eyes.
“I love you” I gain no replies.
You go away, left me hanging on the line
I melt inside; there is nothing but to cry

Now I hate surprises, since that day
Surprise always the happiest but sometimes the hardest
Sometimes it is a road to forever sometimes it could break
Sometimes it says to hold on but sometimes somebody just can’t stay
Sometimes it’s the perfect time to say ‘I love you’,
But sometimes there is nothing left but you.

A sad piece which sums up the pitfalls of love. When the feelings we have for someone are unrequited, there is no one thing on earth that is harder for a person to suffer...

    Take care,
