She was a rose

by Alice rider   Jan 19, 2018

She was so beautiful when you looked at her

You wanted her for yourself

But when you got her you left her

When you got close you realised all her thorns

So you left her

The only reason you wanted her was for her beauty and not for her thorns

And know she lies awake and wonder if anyone will love her

But all she can think about is all those who left

She was as beautiful as a rose but no one could handle her thorns

It's interesting that often the most beautiful flowers have the sharpest thorns to protect them but it's those very thorns that also keeps people away. Nice metaphor and sentiment. Best wishes Milly x
