Louder

by Rey Severs   Jan 20, 2018

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.

All of these issues, lined in a row,
Some of them pass, some never go,
Will I leave will I stay,
Today is the day I just don't know.

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.

Your lover hits you, it hurts worse each time,
He tells you you're disgusting, you love him so you're blind,
It repeats over and over,
The words will never be kind.

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.

Your mother never loved you, because you weren't perfect.
She ensured you felt filthy, disposable, worthless,
You bite through life wondering if you'd ever been loved,
Most days it is a mission seemingly hopeless.

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.

You fantasise about ending your life,
Your house is riddled with pills, ropes and knives,
But which way to go, you plea with yourself,
It could be simple, just a vertical slice...A game...roll the dice?

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.

But I sang the loudest I ever did,
I cried in agony, from the world I hid.
I waited for the day that never came,
So I do wish you well, "I'm fine" I fib.

Sing a little louder,
Cry a little harder,
Before you know it,
The pain will be over.
