Come What May

by Michelle S   Jan 24, 2018

Confusing as my soul and mind wander
To another moment in which I remember
The life I knew is no longer mine
As I run lost and cannot find
The good memories so quickly faded
The bad memories lingered which made me jaded
Youthful and full of hope I was
Destroyed by others and left in the dust
Viewed by other’s as only negative
No apology from other’s why should I forgive
For events that changed the woman inside
Forever dimmed the bright sunshine
A fine balance I must portray
Can’t be called the victim again today
As time progresses aged with wisdom
Yet brutally destroyed from that which I began
First and last impressions as others walk by
I must fight back the tears and refuse to cry
From loneliness that haunts my soul
Be careful and run before it begins to show
Looking weak is not an option you see
For if I do, I will lose the battle of what makes me
Seem to others put together as though I am success
An independent attractive woman who is intelligent no less
Yet each day rolls into another
The end of one and then tomorrow
Only I know the truth of what lingers inside
The fear that overrules events in my mind
Of which tells a story at the end of each day
As I close my eyes to dream of one that will stay
