Mirage of Emotions

by Ben   Jan 24, 2018

In and amongst my dreams of you,
comes a fleeting sphere of hope.

Within
that hope
my future is entwined
with a melancholy that
seeps
from
dream
to
reality.

The sun may rise a thousand times,
but I will never
feel it's warmth;

this is a mirage of emotional destruction,
a hologram of a promise never to be fulfilled, as my sepulchre
is built by my own mind,
encapsulating my sorrow within.

As the yearning for your touch rises to its climax,
reaching its almost unbearable precipice, I awake
to the cold face of reality.

Without the smell of your perfume.

Without the feel of your skin.

When only seconds ago this was my world.

The seams of my palpability are splitting,
like thunder clouds in a despondent sky,
rolling across my shipwrecked heart
raining affirmations to denote all happiness and free will.

Herewith is the mantra of my dysphoria.

This is very beautiful Ben...I hope I still have time to nominate it :) Just some thoughts...

    Within
    that hope
    my future is entwined
    with a melancholy that
    seeps
    from
    dream
    to
    reality.

I'm wondering what it would look like if you took the word seeps and dropped it down letter for letter rather than what you've done here...not sure...maybe try it out yourself?

as my sepulchre ...this got stuck in my throat a bit...I didn't find the word very poetic I'm afraid.

    Still...loved it..

    EDIT

Bummer...just realised it's now 'too old to be nominated'.

So lovely, so sad and melancholy. This love of your dreams is only always in your dreams. Well done-
