I owe my demons

by Valiantpenguin   Jan 27, 2018

I owe nothing to the demons in my closet
I am here despite them
NOT because of them
The demons in my closet have made me learn more
But I do not belong to them
I have no tithe to pay
I paid enough when they attacked
The demons in my closet do not own me any longer

Despite them, I grew stronger
To spite them, I grew stronger.

Stop telling me to be grateful for my demons
For their life lessons
I am not grateful to my demons
For the lessons I never needed
For the wisdom I did not want

My demons broke me down to nothing

I am grateful for those who built me up
Those that believed me
Even when they barely knew me

Those that suffered the same demons
Those that suffered similar
Those that supported without fully understanding
They built me up and made me stronger
Despite my demons
To spite my demons.
