I see you

by Valiantpenguin   Feb 6, 2018

I see you.
Here, there
In the dark or the light
I used to go to the ocean to let the waves wash over me
Wash my mind clean
Now I go and see your eyes where the waves should be
The crash of waves that once soothed me
Is now your voice
Angry, possessive, soft. Comforting
All at once the waves scream
"Don't you dare leave me"
And whisper "please, just a little longer"

The clouds that used to protect me from the too bright sun
Now your brows, darkening the ocean, angry and covering pain
Masking all left unsaid

I see you
I see you so much I'm paranoid
I go to the store and surely you're around that corner
At once disappointed and glad when you're not
I dream of you taking me away
Yet fear the words I would say if I saw you

My mind, once clear
Is now a jumble of words and thoughts and memories
The good and bad intertwined like I wish our bodies were, but never have been

I see you.
