Read It Right

by C Cattaway   Feb 9, 2018

If you read my poetry,
Be sure you read it right.
If you're friends I recommended them to,
You're alright.
If you're peers within this web page,
Then you're welcome too.
All the words I post to here
Are of my feelings true.

But if you're here to have a laugh,
With sinister intent,
Then make sure that you read it right.
Don't assume what I've meant.
If you think you know my past,
Don't presume you know best.
You have no need to be so cruel,
Now it is off my chest.

I did not write about you,
Nor about what you may think.
You do not know me any more,
Your bullying me stinks.
You only show your truest self
When you talk with such bite.
So, read the words I've written,
But make sure you read them right!

Catherine, there is nothing worse than the cowardice of a bully. I'm sorry that you had to experience it but glad that it has inspired this creative blast. I think its a wonderful piece full of emotion and sends a really important message for people to make sure when they read something to make sure that they actually understand what they are reading.. Very valid and very worthwhile. All my best wishes Milly x

    Catherine! I hope this isn't true? :-(
It's a fantastic poem regardless. I guess it's all too easy for the meaning of our words to be misconstrued here. :-) x

Haha. You're all 'peers within this web page', ;-) I'm fed up of the online bullying of someone who shouldn't have an axe to grind. The saying goes, "The worst part about a new relationship is the ex", well in this case, the worst part about their relationship is what the current girlfriend is making up on Facebook to get sympathy & laughs when I've done or said absolutely nothing, & people are believing her.. & as for him, who let's their current partner criticise the mother of one of his children? Disgusting behaviour.. but as nothing has happened, this place is the only place she can see my life, so I wonder if she reads my poetry & thinks I'm not over him. It couldn't be further from the truth. My poetry is about all sorts, but I've not written one to or for him for many years.. x
