Fire in the Belly

by Sampreeth kotian   Feb 10, 2018

When in school, our teachers would say, our words do heed, as we speak today... when you strive in life, battles to win, stroke the fire in the belly within... come college and time just walloped so fast, a creepy uneasiness, it's shadow did cast... As an unsure future, loomed so close, to quash fears, the fire, within, then rose... With a job in hand, we then set forth, to prove to seniors, our genuine worth... when chided and mocked, all wherewithal gone, fire in the belly, helped us move on... hard work bore fruit, appreciation poured, promoted when due, popularity soared... what's left to conquer, the thought did pose, the fire in the belly, to the occasion rose... with co-workers unable to keep up pace, when you feel a distant winner, in the office race... it's time to challenge self, not satisfaction feign, invoke the fire, in the belly again... no guts no glory, we all believe, still a cocoon of comfort we all do weave... to emerge victorious, with consummate ease, the fire in the belly, should never cease....
