Lips will blow a warming breeze (English Sonnet)

by Michael   Feb 11, 2018

I long to smell the scent of pastures green
and hear the early song which breaks our day
the bees who seek a nest out for their queen
all blessed with warmth below a sunshine ray.
As seeds are born beneath a frozen heath
those yellow trumpets sprout a joyous tune
A season starts to turn a whole new leaf
and barren boughs will blossom very soon.
We’ll see a scene with colour in its wake
as hands of winter starts to lose its grip
a warming heart will beat and claim its stake
and icicles will perish as they drip.
A thaw will start to lift us from the freeze
as spring-time lips will blow a warming breeze.
