That's where you are

by Em (marmite)   Feb 14, 2018

As we lay you down for an eternal sleep
your family cannot help but weep
for we have said our long farewell
now you're under heavens spell
we will see you again of that I'm sure
be a complete family again, forevermore

but for now we shall all grieve
wondering why you had to leave
we'll reminisce of times gone by
we'll cry at having said goodbye
we'll remember the good alongside the bad
we'll remember the happy alongside the sad

we'll look to the skies smile knowingly at those beautiful stars
for we know Grandad back with Nan, up there, is where you are

Poems about loss are so so hard to read at times, youth's one was not so.

Remembering the home things is the important thing. It's easy to dwell on the loss but if you can keep those memories of the home times it does make things easier (trust me I know).

I particularly liked the ending. Reunited with loved ones we have lost! When my time comes I hope this is the way it will be

    Regards

hmm, this reminds me very much of the writing style of a young lady who is no longer with us on site, sadly, and who is much missed. I believe she was suffering from a family loss as well.
Anyway, I am very sad to hear of your particular loss and I am glad that you can express it so well with such smooth rhyming and accomplished vocabulary.

All the best and a warm welcome to the site,

    Ben
