Locked In A Secret

by C Cattaway   Feb 19, 2018

If I were to tell you I love you,
Even though we're just friends,
Would you react badly, or tell me
That our friendship has reached an end?

If I blurted out those three words, to you,
Would we suddenly lose where we're at?
Would you stop me from carrying on as we were,
And then never let me back?

I want to tell you that, so badly.
I wish I could just tell you now.
If only my love was returned, even minimally,
I'd make this work. Really. Somehow.

I love you. I love you. I love you.
A thousand times more than I have.
Don't worry. I've locked it away in my heart,
Back inside the secret. So sad.

A nicely rhymed piece, exploring how we feel about our friends. but we have to be careful, a we can lose friends if its not reciprocated
    Much love

A delema felt by most at some time in their lives. I've been on both sides and it's not great. One sided love never works. One day you will meet someone who will make all other loves seem like flimsy imitations. An excellent poem well rhymed and a nice smooth read Milly x

Aw Catherine! Even if you don't say it, things have changed anyway? But never accept 'minimal' love ... you're worth the whole damn kit and caboodle! beautifully written :-) x
