Happy Birthday is my wish
although I would rather kiss your lips
enjoy the day; have fun too
while I sit here and think of you

The plans we made will not come true
for you have gone and left me blue
I think of you day and night
wishing God will make things right

I could have sent you flowers or buy you a ring
but these are only material things
I hope you find your answer soon
the love we knew has gone gloom

Now that I’ve been hurt once again
by a woman that only wants me as a friend

may the angels above watch over you
friends to be is hard for me
